What’s arch pain?

Arch pain is not a very common condition. It can be caused by a variety of things, but the good news is that it can be treated. The arch of the foot is made up of the tarsal and metatarsal bones. The bones are held together with ligaments, tendons and muscles. If one part of the arch does not function correctly, it can cause a strain in another area. This can result in inflammation and pain along the arch or at the bottom of your feet.

Causes: There are many causes for arch pain but here are some common ones:

Plantar Fasciitis - is an inflammation to the ligament that supports the arch of the foot.

Overpronation - is when your ankle rolls inward more than it should. This puts extra pressure on your plantar fascia ligament which can cause pain along your arch or at the bottom of your feet.

Flat Feet - sometimes called pes planus or fallen arches, this condition occurs when there is little or no arches in your feet. This condition may lead to overpronation and foot pain such as heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis.

High Arched Feet - if you have high arches or cavus foot you put too much weight on it when walking which cause pain and instability.
